Coutinho could be sold to buy Cavani in January
One of the players Barcelona are trying to sign is Edinson Cavani. Apparently, everything is in Barca’s favour as the Uruguayan is happy to move to the Camp Nou and Man Utd would not oppose his sale. The Uruguayan’s contract expires in June.
However, Barca would like him in January. There is one problem though: the club’s finances. There is a solution though. According to ‘The Sun’, the Catalans will try and include Coutinho in the deal.
Barca’s plan is simple: they will add the Brazilian as a bargaining chip to reduce the cost of the transfer. In addition, his departure would get rid of one of the highest paid players in the squad and that would allow other footballers to join.
Despite being one of the players most likely to leave, Coutinho has no intention of leaving Barcelona so that complicates the move. The former Liverpool man has apparently been offered to Man City to reduce the cost of signing Ferran Torres or Raheem Sterling, but the plan was unsuccessful.
On the other hand, Barcelona have reportedly contacted Cavani’s brother and agent. The Uruguayan striker seems willing to play for Barcelona before he ends his career in Europe and return to Uruguay, where he wants to retire.
