Edin Dzeko is the favourite to become Karim Benzema’s back up at Real Madrid. He has a proven track record, has an eye for goal, is cheap and is happy to accept being the number two behind Benzema.

According to ‘Sport’, the option of the Bosnian, if they decide to sign a player, is once Madrid will seriously consider. He lost his place in the Inter starting XI, but still managed to score 17 goals. He has a good reputation, his numbers back him up and he would not cost much money. They are qualities whicvh make him attractive to Carlo Ancelotti.

At the age of 36. he is coming towards the end of his career and, at this stage, a club like Madrid coming onto the scene could be very tempting. This season, his first at Inter after six successful seasons at Roma (116 goals in 260 matches), he gradually lost importance in the starting XI as time went on. However, he still played 3342 minutes in 49 appearances, 38 of them as a starter.

Furthermore, Romelu Lukaku’s return to the Giuseppe Meazza is almost a done deal. And the Bosnian striker moved to Inter to cover the absence of the Belgian who is about to return to the Italians on loan.

Valencia have also been linked with Dzeko who is not the only option for Real Madrid in attack. In fact, Real Madrid, before deciding whether to make a signing, will reportedly weigh up the options of Luka Jovic, Mariano Diaz, Borja Mayoral and academy player Juan Miguel Latasa to see whether they have enough cover for Benzema.
