The finalists of the 2021-22 Europa League have been decided. Eintracht Frankfurt and Rangers will face each other in what is expected to be a fierce encounter at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan, the home ground of one of the great teams in this competition, in Seville. The match will take place on 18th May at 21:00.

To reach the final stage, Eintracht eliminated West Ham United in the semi-finals. A win in England was followed by another victory in Germany to seal their passage without too many setbacks. The Hammers were down to one man early in the second leg due to a red card for Cresswell and could hardly have challenged for the win.

Finalists Rangers beat fellow German side RB Leipzig in their semi-final clash. Their match was the one that attracted the most interest because the Scots had to comeback from a 1-0 deficit at their home stadium, which had left everything open for the match in Scotland. The fans were a key factor in the game, and they kept the home fans’ spirits high from start to finish.

Previously, Eintracht had knocked out Real Betis in the round of 16 and Barcelona in the quarter-finals. The second match with Barcelona was particularly controversial because the German fans ‘took over’ the Camp NouRangers, on their way to the final, knocked out Borussia Dortmund in the round of 32, Red Star in the round of 16 and Sporting Braga in the quarter-finals.
