These are the 8 quarter-finalists of the Champions League 2021-22
The last 16 of the Champions League 2021-22 are now history. Chelsea and Villarreal were the last to seal their place in the quarter-finals for which Bayern Munich had already qualified. Liverpool, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Benfica and Atletico Madrid.
Before we look back at how they managed to see off their Round of 16 rivals, let’s remember that the draw for the penultimate round of the continent’s premier club competition will be made on Friday 18th March at the House of European Football in Nyon.
Bayern Munich (Germany)
Bayern Munich eliminated Salzburg 8-2 on aggregate. The Austrians surprised in the first leg and took a 1-1 draw to Germany that allowed them to dream, but the Bavarian roller was fulminating in the second leg. Lewandowski’s hat trick after 23 minutes made it all but certain.
Liverpool (England)
Liverpool eliminated Inter 2-1 on aggregate. The Reds had a tough time in the first leg, but came away with a valuable 2-0 second-half win that paved the way to the quarter-finals. Lautaro Martinez provided the excitement at Anfield, but, in the end, Klopp’s side made it count.
