Fabrizio Romano is a reliable source on transfer market matters and joined the ‘Jijantes’ programme for a day to comment on Barcelona’s current affairs. He spoke, in passing, about one of his big market targets, Erling Haaland, who seems closer to Madrid now and who would have no problem sharing a dressing room with Kylian Mbappe.
“I can tell you 100 per cent that playing alongside Kylian Mbappe is not a problem for Erling Haaland. Haaland is unbelievable, he is thinking about everything. He won’t decide for the money. He preferred Salzburg to Juve and Borussia to United. The project will be vital. Madrid are close financially to City and Barca would be out of the race if Haaland was looking for money. I think this is going to be Haaland month,” he said.
“I think April will be Haaland month. I think we will know his final decision in April. For Haaland, signing for Madrid doesn’t depend on Mbappe joining, but there’s also Benzema, Vinicius, Rodrygo…,” continued Romano, who also addressed Gavi’s renewal with Barca, which he understands is tied up.
“With Gavi, it’s a question of time. Barca are very busy, but they have everything ready,” he specified. On the subject of Ousmane Dembele and his renewal, he said: “With Dembele, anything can happen. The player’s feeling in Barcelona is fantastic. Raphinha is very advanced, but Leeds have not received any offer from Barca.
