OFFICIAL: Sterling joins Chelsea
Todd Boehly wants to have the best team possible. The new Chelsea owner is willing to do anything to give Thomas Tuchel a superb squad and Chelsea have made their first signing in Raheem Sterling.
Chelsea have bought Raheem Sterling from Man City. The footballer’s contract will run until 2027 and it is reported there is the option to extend it by another season. The manager was key in the persuading the Englishman to move to Stamford Bridge.
Despite the fact official figures have not been released, Fabrizio Romano commented this Thursday that the agreement between Chelsea and Man City would be reached for 47.5 million pounds.
Man City have hastily let Sterling go as his contract was expiring in 2023 and the club did not want him to leave for a free in a year’s time if they were unable to persuade him to renew.
Sterling arrived at Man City in 2015 from Liverpool. Seven years later, he leaves Man City after 339 appearances. He scored 131 goals and provided 72 assists.
The winger was clear that it was the moment to start a new adventure. His agent offered him to the highest buyer. He was linked with Arsenal, Real Madrid and Barcelona, amongst others, although Chelsea have finally been the ones to win the race.
Tuchel now has the player he was hoping to get. Now, he hopes that Chelsea owner Todd Boehly sticks to his promise and keeps on improving the squad so they can try and win all trophies in the 2022-23 season.
