“Mateu Lahoz apologised to Martino” after Messi’s title deciding disallowed goal
Atletico Madrid made history at the Camp Nou on 17th May 2014. Simeone’s men won La Liga, one of their best title wins in recent years, but it did not come without controversy.
Jorge Pautasso has made comments on the programme ‘Que T’hi Jugues’ to talk, amongst other things, about that disallowed Leo Messi goal which would have made it 2-1 for Barca in the second half.
“Mateu Lahoz (the referee) apologised to Tata (Martino) for Messi’s disallowed goal. He said that he had made a mistake,” Gerardo Martino’s assistant said. He was upset that that incident could have affected his and the rest of the coaching staff’s future.
“With VAR in play, Atletico’s La Liga would be Barca’s,” Pautasso said. He also highlighted the difficulties they had to adapt to a club like Barcelona.”
